The kitchen

Our cuisine

What kind of cuisine is it?
It is signature Emilia-Romagna cuisine: at La Via Emilia we reinterpret the traditional cooking of Emilia-Romagna —one of Italy’s great gastronomic regions— in the key of the land that hosts us, Catalonia, here in Barcelona.
Does Emilia-Romagna mean Italian?
No: there is no such thing as one Italian cuisine — there are at least twenty, each from a different region. In Emilia-Romagna cuisine the key elements are pasta, cured meats and many variations of bread.
So is it Italian cuisine?
Yes and no: our cooking is built on fresh egg pasta, an element recognised around the world as a symbol of Italian cuisine.
What is egg pasta?
Egg pasta is the perfect synthesis of the lightest flour and the freshest eggs, from the healthiest hens, kneaded by hand.
Handmade pasta in Barcelona?
At La Via Emilia, our fresh egg pasta is made by hand every day in Barcelona and served the very same day, to offer it as fresh as possible.
